Effects of Illumination Conditions and Chromaticity Contrast on Reading Performance
نویسنده
چکیده
This study investigated the effects of illumination conditions (lighting color and illumination intensity) and chromaticity contrast on reading performance with TFT-LCD screens. Results indicated that the illumination intensity and background color had significant effects on reading performance in experiment 1. In experiment 2, only text color significantly affected reading performance. However, in general, reading performance was higher under white light, 500 lux, and text or background with blue color. According to the results, white light, 500 lux, and text or background with primal colors seemed to be the optimal conditions. If the yellow light is necessary, using blue as the text or background color of will provide better performance. Keywords—Illumination conditions, Chromaticity contrast, Reading performance.

r a m n m l t bstract. In image capture a scene with nonuniform illumination as an influence on the image quality, especially the contrast and etail in dark regions. Generally, the tone curve or histogram of an mage is modified to improve the contrast and detail, yet this is inufficient as the intensity and chromaticity of the illumination vary ith geometric position. Thus, the multi-scaled ret...
متن کاملHow precise do precision tints have to be and how many are necessary?
Among those individuals who habitually wear precision tints, reading speed can vary as a function of the chromaticity of the illuminating light. The reading speed decreases as the chromaticity departs from optimum, whether in saturation or in hue. When the distance in the CIE 1976 UCS diagram between the chromaticity of the illuminating light and that optimal for reading exceeds about 0.08, the...

Introduction: Recent evidence indicates that lighting can affect physiological and neurobehavioral human functions, referred to as non-image forming (NIF) effects of lighteffects. This study aimed to determine the effects of illumination levels and correlated color temperature (CCT) on alertness and performance under NIF conditions. Material and Methods: In this study, 22 participants were exp...
متن کاملEffects of ambient illumination, contrast polarity, and letter size on text legibility under glance-like reading.
Recent research on the legibility of digital displays has demonstrated a "positive polarity advantage", in which black-on-white text configurations are more legible than their negative polarity, white-on-black counterparts. Existing research in this area suggests that the positive polarity advantage stems from the brighter illumination emitted by positive polarity displays, as opposed to the da...

In this study nanosized TiO2coatings on the 316L stainless steel substrate were prepared by means of dip-coating technique in which thickness of the coating layer increased byrepeating the coating cycles in two different routes: (I) dipping and drying, respectively, were repeated one, three and five times and finally the dried coated sample was heat treated (single); (II) multiple heat treatment...
